So, many people ask us the same question. HOW DO YOU DO IT with that many kids?! While we realize many of them mean sanity, so many more of them mean financially. While I won't bore you with details about our finances, I can say it's a lot easier to move funds around to kids when you have different priorities than most. For one, we don't have a lot of the same daily life expenses that most people have. For example, we do not have a car payment, house payment or lifestyle habits like hair, nails or daily lunches for David or the kids outside of the home. What we HAVE paid off was a massive amount of debt (about $30k) brought on from choices made long before we got married. With this last move to South Korea and the introduction of credit cards into our lives, we racked up quite a lot of debt over the last year as well. So, we're making a LOT of changes again. As we're starting our Financial Peace University classes on post this week, I'd like to share with you a few things that have helped out over the last few years. This week, we take a look at my replacement for a gym membership. As an upper respiratory infection has me in bed this week, it can't keep me from sharing this blog with you today!
As, you may know, 2014 was a banner year for the reclamation of my life. I went back to the gym, I found out what Zumba is and I lost 40 lbs. BUT, then I got pregnant and asthma kicked in. With every dance, my heart just flat out said, "nope" so, I stuck it on the back burner. But, I never gave up on my love of dancing (even if I am horrible at it, it's so much fun!) But, now, with the finances being what they are, I can't justify throwing money at a gym membership. Enter Youtube!
Over the length of my pregnancy, I built up a few different playlists of other YouTubers fitness routines played to some of my favorite music! So, instead of paying for a gym membership, I bought a few new outfits that will fit me (since I put on 30lbs. with this pregnancy and really didn't fit my smaller workout clothing.) I already had the Zumba Toning Weights and the Zyka dance shoes so I went to town on the routines! This is now completely free! Build the playlist and off you go!
How can you watch the playlist effectively? If you have a Google Chromecast. IPad or Playstation you can watch your playlist (including saved playlists) through the app. I've even been known to rock the playlist on my smartphone. Any way you slice it, it's free to use and can save you a lot of money. For me, it was close to $45 a month at my last gym, so this is saving my family $540 a year! Plus, I'll be healthier in the long run with makes life cheaper too, if I am not in and out of a hospital.
Here's my first playlist. It features Selena Gomez, Pitbull, Super Junior, Britney Spears, Meghan Trainor, Leslie Grace, Psy, Justin Beiber, Shakira, Justin Timberlake, FX, 5th Harmony, Girls Generation, 2NE1, Big Bang, Bruno Mars and Rachel Platten. It's been a labor of love trying to get them all right and I am often changing up the order and having fun replacing the jams, but, for the most part, I am pretty happy with this list and I feel it's ready to be passed on to you.
Remember, dancing is for everyone, even the broke peoples!
